The newly opened $17 million health and fitness centre at Epsom girls' school St Cuthbert's College now named the Centennial Centre for Wellbeing, houses a 25m swimming pool with a moveable floor, learners' pool, fitness centre and a 250-seat spectator gallery.
This complex was one of the biggest building projects in the college's 100-year history and was designed by the architects Architectus who choose Asona’s suspended Cloud Pool Panels to cover the large expanse of the pool area.
Asona Cloud Pool Panel™ is a proprietary high-sound absorbing acoustical panel designed specifically for swimming pool ceilings and moisture laden environments.
The Cloud Pool Panel™ has a 50mm acoustic core and is foil backed with a concealed aluminium frame to prevent condensation and corrosion.
The panels are faced and edge wrapped with Sonatex™ a white glass matt composite finish which in turn has been treated with a silicone water repellent coating.
The 50 mm thick glass fibre core absorber provides very high sound absorption to NRC 1.00, ISO 11654, αW 1.0 and the panels are dimensionally stable in high humidity, made in NZ, low in embodied energy with 80% recycled content and has a group fire rating of 1S, perfect for this school project where the balance of controlling sound reverberation and the use of moisture repelling materials is of equal importance.
